Hey everyone, today i will show u how to do a map by the first step to the last! Very long tuto lol.
Before doing something, imagine the map in your mind!
Hummm.... I think i will do a simple map for close combat. Opened map and tropic tree.
Like trenchwars maps, no fuel
IMPORTANT : SAVE ALWAYS AFTER DOING SOMETHING!
Step 1 : Choice the texture
Open Soldat Polyworks
Edit/Map Settings/Texture
I will choice the texture named : sable.jpg "Texture i downloaded on a website"
Step 2 : The first polygon
I will choice this picture on Tools :
First i will do the basic floor, you don't need for now to do nice polygons, beautiful polygons.
Go on view menu, activate snap grid/snap vertices/show grid.
If you do that, you will do perfect polygons, i mean your polygons will not cross between us.
Okay this is poor ^^.
Now you know how to put a polygon with good points.
To do a square, just do the same polygon but inverse.
Inverse = Same polygon but rotate, watch :
Step 3 : The Scheme
I want to do my map like this :
This poor scheme is only for you ^^. I don't do an horrible thing like this to create map. I keep all in my mind
Step 4 : Basics Polygons
I like to do symetric map. This one is ^^
So i will only the half of the map. The right part here.
So i begin to put my polys. To do beautiful map :
PUT ALL POINTS TO POINTS. Don't cross your polys!
Okay i have that : "i am using the display wireframe to see better my polys"
Héhé it looks better!
Step 5 : Beautiful Polygons
The step 4 is good but incomplete. You have basic map but this is not beautiful, so i will do more smaller polygons around another bigs poly to do a great map!
Okayyyyyy! Now you have beautiful polygons and smooth poly ^^.
Step 5.1 : Oups! An error!
Shit i do a polygon with a wrong place!
Shit i do a mystake!
Shit this tuto bored me
If you do an error, you have many ways to delete that.
First, Undo
Edit > Undo
This thing will delete your last action!
Maybe you did an error and you continue your map, so you can try that!
Select that :
This tool is for selecting poly. "Guys come on, there is an another tuto about tools ahah"
With this one, you can click on a poly and change his properties/color/form.
But you can delete it, just select your poly and type Suppr/Delete/The key for deleting ^^!
Step 6 : Now, let's fun!
Okay, i did my basics, but my map is always ugly... I need to fix that.
First i will complete poly under my basics, because there will be some water and i need to do some depth.
Now i will do the blue part.
Very easy, just select all with this tool :
If you did that good, all poly will be lighter.
Now duplicate all. Edit > Duplicate
Now i need to inverse my huge poly.
Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal
FOR ALL MOVING AFTER SELECTING, PRESS CTRL AND DRAG N DROP!
Okay i place my big poly just near another.
If you did that good, you will have a thing like that!
Okay! I have all my platform to play Mouahahahah
Step 7 : Scenery
First, put out the Snap to Grid
Phewwww, i did a long work ahaha, need a cig. Joking
I did my platform, beautiful polys but this is always ugly. What the hell?!!
We need scenerys!
First i will put water around the map!
Click on :
After this, just click right and a long board will appear.
I will select water.bmp
In palette menu, i will put 80 opacity
In scenery menu, i will put middle scenery
You can change properties too ^^.
I have water but i don't want that players can go in water and survive.
So i will put invisible poly killing them at touch.
Put a long poly just down the top water.
Put 2 Opacity and the property Deadly
For this, you can cross poly!
I have that now!
Step 7.1 : Scenery 2
Nice! I have all my platform good, the map is playable but always ugly.
I need to put some tree/stone etc...
Do what you want.
Just keep in your mind you can change the opacity, the size and the color of scenery.
I stop the tuto for today, maybe i will continue later ^^
